The Chonchon

When I think of Mythology, quickly come to my mind the myth of Chonchon, most known as Tue-Tue. This is a Mapuche myth, which was inherited to the Chilean people, specifically to the people of the south of Chile.

It is about an evil sorcerer, who with the help of a cream that he spread on his neck; his head is clear from his body, his ears become wings and emerge two horrible claws under his head.  So it is said, that he fly at night making a scary sound as tue-tue and the person, who hears it is destined to die.

This myth really call my attention, because some people of south of Chile say that they have heard to the Tue-Tue and even some of them say that they have seen him. Some people say that if you say Tue-Tue, three times, this will appear in front of you as a man with a black layer and you have to invite him for coffee at home, because if you do not do that, he will kill you.

In Chile there are a lot of myths; other one of them that I can remember is the Caleuche, which is a ghost Ship.
